Big things on the horizon? Bosch teases June 18th reveal — are we about to see a lightweight e-bike revolution?

Yesterday, while scrolling through social media, I spotted a mysterious teaser from German giant Bosch. They dropped a photo with the date 18. 06. 2026 and the caption „Almost invisible. Stay tuned 🤫“. Behind rain-soaked glass, a blurred silhouette of a bike. And my brain immediately started spinning.

Officially, we know nothing. But thinking logically — based on the name and the clues — I’d personally expect a new generation of their lightweight SX motor series. The first SX has been around for over two years now (introduced in 2023), and in the cycling world that’s a long time. The light e-MTB segment is moving at rocket speed and it’s about time for a proper revolution — before some aggressive Chinese manufacturer steals the show again.

My personal theory: I connected the dots

While thinking about what could be behind this announcement, I connected two recent events that seem unrelated at first — but together they make perfect sense.

Recently, Porsche shocked the cycling world by announcing the complete closure of their e-bike division Porsche eBike Performance, which included the legendary Fazua brand. Fazua was an absolute pioneer in lightweight mid-drive motors. And what do Fazua (Porsche) and Bosch have in common? They’re both German, based close to each other — so any acquisition or deal would be relatively straightforward from a business perspective.

My theory is that Porsche didn’t want to write off this entire division as a massive loss and throw it in the bin. The much more logical move would be to sell it at a good price to Bosch — a classic win-win. Porsche recoups some losses, Bosch gets the technology, and nobody has to admit defeat.

The FAZUA RIDE 60 motor has also been on the market for over two years. And the people behind its development certainly weren’t sitting on their hands — they were working on something new. Anyone who’s worked in a larger corporation knows exactly how these things work. Division closures, sales, and technology transfers are handled months in advance behind firmly closed doors, long before anything goes public. By the time Porsche officially announced the end, Bosch could have had everything signed and the technology quietly transferred.

Add to that yesterday’s caption — „Almost invisible“ — and it fits perfectly. Fazua always prided itself on maximum integration and making the motor nearly invisible on the bike. Will Bosch reveal a new SX motor on June 18th that carries Fazua’s DNA? To me, it all lines up a little too neatly.

In less than two weeks, we’ll know. What do you think of my theory? Does it make sense to you, or are you betting on a completely different direction? Let me know in the comments!
